Kristen started her dance training at the age of 5. She was trained in many areas of dance, but fell in love with the art of ballet. It was her passion and dream to one day become a principal ballerina in the New York City Ballet. Kristen attended Marin Ballet in San Francisco on full scholarship when she was 14, and then later attended the School of American Ballet in New York City at the age of 16. She has performed in many different ballet performances, including Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Paquita, Sleeping Beauty, and has performed as Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker. Due to unfortunate injuries, she retired her pointe shoes and started a family with her husband, Ted. Together they have been raising their son, Tyler. Kristi Davar was blessed to reunite with Kristen several years ago, as Kristen was one of Kristi’s jazz students as a teenager. Kristen has also been taking adult dance classes at the studio and is thrilled to be teaching ballet here at Center Stage Dance and Performing Arts.
