During
High School Desireé auditioned for a musical theatre
workshop called Broadway Theatre Project, and was accepted
2 years in a row. At BTP she studied with such legends
as "Gwen Verdon", "Ann Reinking",
"Gregory Hines", "Julie Andrews",
and "James Naughton" just to name a few. After
this remarkable experience she knew Broadway was her calling.
Desireé
kept studying all areas of musical theatre while assisting
her mother with the musicals at MVHS, as well as performing
in the play "THE PHILADELPHIA", and the musical
"CRAZY FOR YOU" at Saddleback College. She knew
it was time to go to The Big Apple! She was accepted to
a theatre school in NYC called The American Musical and
Dramatic Academy, AMDA. There she had a vigorous schedule
of Dance, Acting, and Voice with many Broadway caliber
performers and directors. She recently graduated from
AMDA in February ’05, and readily started auditioning.
Desireé
was Assistant Choreographer to one of her talented teachers
from AMDA, Tracey Bonner. She helped put up the finale
from A Chorus Line, “ONE” to be performed
at The Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Center.
This
summer she received the role of Silly Girl #2 in "DISNEY’S
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST" at The Fireside Theatre, in
WI. Here she worked with many Regional and Broadway performers.
She also had the privilege of working with Kate Swan who
was in the original cast of "BEAUTY AND THE BEAST"
on Broadway, and was also the Assistant Choreographer.
Desiree’ was recently hired back to The Fireside
in December as one of the principal performers in "THOSE
FABULOUS FIFTIES." She will be working with the acclaimed
choreographer Tony Stevens, who has assisted such greats
as Bob Fosse and Peter Gennaro, and has been in several
shows on Broadway. Currently, she is a faculty member
teaching dance at AMDA.
Desireé
now lives in NYC living her dream and pursuing a career
in musical theatre.
