Dress Code

In general, CSDPA recommends dancers wear tight-fitting dance attire so instructors can see body lines. Tights are required if a dancer is wearing short loose-fitting shorts.

Below is CSDPA's dress code for:

JAZZ and MUSICAL THEATER and TECHNIQUE
Leotards or fitted dance shirts (tank tops or camis)
Black leggings or dance shorts with light suntan tights
No sweats or street wear
Black or tan jazz shoes
Hair pulled back from face into a ponytail

BALLET and POINTE Black leotard, NO tank tops or t-shirts Pink tights (black tights are acceptable for levels 3 and above) Black or pink ballet skirt (optional) Pink ballet shoes or pink pointe shoes Hair must be pulled back neatly and in a bun.

CONTEMPORARY, LYRICAL and MODERN Leotards Dance shorts Black or light suntan tights Tan jazz shoes, lyrical shoes or half-sole shoes Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or bun

TAP Leotards or fitted dance shirts (tank tops or camis) Black leggings or dance shorts with light suntan tights No sweats or street wear Black tap shoes Tap shoes must be checked for loose screws before entering class, no nailed in taps! Hair pulled back from face into a ponytail

HIP HOP Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, NO jeans Tennis shoes or dance sneakers
